Enjoying Black and White photography is a more rewarding experience than typical landscapes. While sinking into the work emotionally, the viewer will become aware of a feeling of classicality; of timelessness.
With color, the period the shot was taken in becomes obvious, and limits the point of reference for the viewer, whether it’s because of the period in history, or the time of year.
But Black and White holds no such limitations. The observer is free to bring their own interpretation of feeling into the piece, reliving old memories, placing themselves in various times or moods. For this reason, the artistic communication between the photographer and the viewer is more complete than with color.
